April Mission, BBQ, and Plane Wash – April 15th

April Mission, BBQ, and Plane Wash – April 15th

We are excited for warmer weather and that means gorgeous spring flying and outdoor activities.

On April 15th, we will begin the first of several monthly TSS Missions. This morning, the fleet will be flying out to Sky Bryce and Potomac Airfield with 10-12 members, two lesser known airfields that will give three pilots in each plane the opportunity to get some cross country time and land at some airports with interesting approaches.

9am – 12pm TSS Mission: Cool Landings and XC Time

Total round trip flight time will be 1:30 – 2:00hrs per airplane.

Sky Bryce, WV

Sky Bryce is located over the Shenandoah Mountains, and is a private 2200 x 50 strip nestled between two mountains. Pilots will get a chance to hone their short field landing skills while taking in the beautiful terrain.

Next we will head to Potomac Airpark in West Virginia. This nearly deserted airpark features a huge runway, with a really cool approach following the upper potomac river before landing.

12pm – 1pm BBQ

Then we will head back to Montgomery County Airpark by noon, to share stories with Mission pilots and other club members over a cookout lunch. Prospective members, friends, and family are invited to join – but please confirm guest attendance by emailing info@tss.org so we can get enough food.

1PM  – 4pm Plane Wash

After lunch, we will be washing and waxing all four airplanes at the Wash Station at GAI. We need as many members as possible to help with this bi-annual project in order to finish up in a timely manner, and keep our planes looking and performing in tip top shape.

Let’s all hope for great spring weather.
